Paro Work for Thursday (16 May 2013)Reminders: Turn in Community Service Forms & Independent Study ReportsENGLISH. You know it! Learn your lines. If you haven't sent me the music/powerpoint for you group, please do that today.
MATH Continue to work on worksheets given for review. SCIENCE SOCIALS Please finish watching the last two parts of the "20th Century Battlefield Korean War". We were approximately 5 minutes into part 5 of 6 (1st link) as well, watch the last link. Remember, the info from the movie is fair game for appearing on the next exam. Obviously, if you've missed days this week watch the entire 6 parts of the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEE4oaxH9bU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyDTByBg0YQ Second of all, I am excited to announce that Mrs. Kim will be coming into class on Monday for our double period. This will allow us to have Q & A session with her about Korea and gain more of...well a Korean perspective on things. One of the main topics we will talk about is Christianity in Korea. Remember from some of our earlier readings we saw how Korea fiercely persecuted Christians in the beginning but today is home to millions of Christians. In order to prepare for her visit, each student must come up with four questions. These questions must be typed, printed, and brought to class on Monday. This does not need to be APA formatted nor have a title page. Each question will be graded as follows: 2 points: Question shows deep understanding of Korean history and/or current events and is written in a thought provoking manner 1 point: Question is about Korea but has a narrow scope, is not strongly tied to historical or current Korean events, is still somewhat thought provoking 1/2 point: Question has nothing to do with Korean history and/or current events, is simple in nature, and evokes a simple response Examples: 2 point question: "From our readings on Under the Black Umbrella" we heard that communism really began to take root in Korea as a way to resist Japanese Occupation. However, as we know Communism also helped lead to the division of Korea. That being said, what are your general thoughts on communism and how does the average S. Korean's view differ from that of most westerners? 1 point: We know that Korea has a huge Christian population. Why do you think that is? 1/2 point: What is your favorite Korean food? *Also remember that you should have finished Animal Farm by now. Our quiz on 7-10 will be pushed back until Tuesday. Also, keep working on your final projects. Thank you for all your hard work on these as well as the school work. SPANISH Sr Vargas:
