Grade 3

Paro work for MONDAY 20 May

Good morning Grade 3!

Once again we are not able to have class at the school because of the continued unrest.  Posted below is work for you to complete today.  If you have questions about your work, you can call me at the school.  Let’s keep praying for a peaceful solution to the unrest.

You will find some work for Español at the end.

Reading:  We’re going to go ahead and start this week’s story.  The reading selection, ”Visitors from Space”, goes right along with our science study of the solar system.  The genre of the story is an expository nonfiction that explains information and ideas.  Enjoy reading the information and remember Who has created all things in the heavens.  “And; You , Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands.” Hebrews 1:10  Our God is an awesome God and His creation is amazing.  So let’s begin this week by first reading Vocabulary Power pg. 400-401.  Look up the vocabulary words in your glossary and write each word’s definition in your Language Arts cuaderno or another clean sheet of paper.  After that, go ahead and enjoy reading pages 403-411.  A great reading strategy to use with nonfiction stories is to “Adjust Reading Rate”.  Slow down and read the facts given carefully.  Enjoy reading about “Visitors from Space”.

Math:  I hope you’re understanding how to multiply larger numbers.  If you need help, ask your parents, classmates or call me at the school.  Today we will continue practicing our multiplication by first reading page 452.  I wish we could be at school so we could use our base ten blocks to help you understand larger number multiplication, but the photos on page 452 should help.  After carefully reading page 452, then do problems # 1-29 for practice.  Have fun with numbers!

Socials:   Today, read page 138 about health care in Tunisia. Read through the page completely the first time, then go back and read it paragraph by paragraph. Take notes in your social cuaderno after reading each paragraph. Remember how we list, in notes, the important facts about each paragraph.  Then also read page 141 about health care in Ukraine. Read the entire page once and then reread stopping after each paragraph to write your facts. Read carefully and take great notes.

Well, that’s all for today.  I really do hope we will be at school tomorrow.  I miss each one of you.     Continue to be R-E-S-P-O-N-S-I-B-L-E to complete all your work and have a great day learning!
