CHATTER 8 – 11 December 2009

 

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

The Christmas season is here and as a school, we wish all our students and their families, and our CCS staff very special blessings this holiday season.  Our hope is that each one will find a deeper meaning of Christmas through a relationship with Jesus Christ.   We also pray that you will have safety in all your plans during the break (Dec 19th to Jan 10th). We look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday, 11th of January 2010 for the start of the second semester.

 

GOOD BYE & HELLO

As the semester ends, we must say good bye to some of our teachers and helpers this year.  We are very thankful for each one who has ¨stepped up to the plate¨ to help us this semester and invested in the lives of our students. Those who are leaving CCS at the end of this semester are:

Mr. Arden Steele,  Mr. Jonathan Steele, Mrs. Andrea Wilson (HS Bible)  Sra. Norma Flores (Science Technician – maternity leave)  Miss Joy Kostreva (HS Math) and Mrs. Jamie Jones (Socials and English).   We do wish each one God´s best and many blessings in their plans for next year.

We look forward to welcoming back Charlie and Tami Thorsen (HS Bible) and new teachers Tim and Elizabeth Donald (Elementary and Socials/English). Please continue to pray for others who are preparing to come and serve here at CCS as well.

 

CHATTER CORRECTION

In our last chatter, we mistakenly included a notice from previous years for PK/Kinder students.  Please note that we will have school for our PK/Kinder classes on both Thursday, Dec 17th and Friday Dec 18th.  They will ride home with the other students on the regular school busses at 12:00 noon both days.

 

SCHOOL OFFICES CLOSED

Please note that the school offices will close at noon on Thursday, December 24th for the Christmas holidays.  We will open again on Monday, January 4th, 2010.  The school offices will be closed from December 24th , 2009 to January 4th , 2010.   Merry Christmas to all our Faculty and Staff who help keep the school running smoothly every day.

 

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM SET FOR 17 DECEMBER

All of the students are preparing for our annual school Christmas Program which will be on Thursday, 17th December at 7:00pm.   The elementary school students are practicing their lines and special numbers while the high school students are learning songs in Choir.  A letter was recently sent home with each student about the dress code for the evening.  We especially thank Mrs. Joanna Murrin and Mrs. Bonnie Timmer for all their hard work in directing the program.  We invite all our school families and their friends to be with us this year to celebrate our Savior's birth in music and drama.

We remind elementary students that they must be at school in their homerooms by 6:30pm on Thursday.

 

CHRISTMAS PROJECT THANKS

The CCS students and faculty have collected age appropriate gifts to give to children at orphanages in Cochabamba.   We are counting on everyone's participation in this "gift drive" to have enough for each child at the orphanages to receive a gift.     Next week the school will distribute them to the children at the various homes.   We thank each one who has contributed to this project.

THE FIRST SEMESTER ENDS AND REPORTS ISSUED ON 18 DECEMBER

The official closing date is Friday, 18 December. 

Semester Reports to parents will be distributed to students on Friday, 18 December at noon.

We remind families now that the following obligations must be taken care of before students receive their semester reports:

  • All school debts must be paid, including tuition, commodore and transportation (bus) debts.
  • Community Service Reports must be turned in (Grades 9 – 12)
  • Library fines must be paid and overdue books returned.
  • Any sporting equipment or uniforms borrowed must be returned.

 

 We also need to know if any student will not be returning to CCS in January for the next semester. 

These students will need to complete a green "Leaving School Form" before they will be issued their semester reports.

TURN IN SPORTS UNIFORMS

Students who were on sports teams this first semester must return their uniforms to the school before the semester ends.   Those who have not returned their uniforms will not be issued a report on the 18th. 

 

HIGH SCHOOL EXAMS   14 TO 16 DECEMBER

Exam week for students in the High School will be Monday to Wednesday, 14 – 16 December.  Please take time, parents and students, to review the examination rules in the School Handbook before this week arrives. High School students will need to leave the campus after their last exam each day.   No High School lunches will be prepared or served.  

 

HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR PRACTICE ON TUESDAY 15 DECEMBER

There will be a special High School Choir Practice at 11:45am on Tuesday 15 December.   All students in Grades 7 to 12 must be present at this practice session.  Students will need to arrange their rides home for after practice at 12:45.

 

 

EXAM WEEK SCHEDULE  14 TO 18 DECEMBER

Mon  - Wed
  • Elem school is normal.
  • HS exams in the morning.
  • HS students must leave the CCS campus after their last exam each day.

Thu  17th
  • No High School classes.
  • Elem School - students will leave at 12:00 Noon
  • This includes Kinder and PK children who will also leave at noon
  • No Lunches will be served.
  • The Christmas program begins at 7:00 pm.
  • ALL students PK to Gr 12 must be at school by 6:30pm

Fri  18th  

  • All students including PK and Kinder children must be in school at the normal time
  • Semester Grade Reports will be distributed at 12:00 Noon.
  • School semester will end and busses will leave at 12:00 Noon

               

HANDBOOK MATTERS

Use of School Phones and Cellular Phones

Cellular phones are allowed but are brought to school at the student's own risk.   Use of such phones is restricted to lunch time and recess.    They must not be used as music devices at any time.     

 

Cell phones must be turned off (not set in silent mode) and be out of sight during classes.  If a cell phone rings during a class, or if a student uses one during class time, the phone will be confiscated by the teacher, and parents will be contacted to collect the phone. Should a pattern develop, more serious measures may be taken including confiscating the phone till the end of the semester.

 

Please note that cell phones are only to be used for communication as a phone while at school, and should be used when absolutely necessary only at recess or lunch break.  Cell phones should never be used for music, videos or internet while on CCS property.  Cell phones used for these other reasons while at school or on school trips, may be confiscated.

Elementary School is ½ Day.   Busses will run at noon.

FELICES FIESTAS DE FIN DE AÑO

¡Navidad ya está cerca! Deseamos que todos los estudiantes, sus familias y nuestros trabajadores de CCS tengan bendiciones especiales para esta Navidad. Nuestra esperanza es que cada uno de ustedes pueda encontrar el verdadero significado de la Navidad a través  de Jesucristo. Oramos también por protección para todos sus planes durante el descanso (diciembre 19 a enero 10) Esperamos verlos de regreso en el colegio el lunes, 11 de enero del 2010 para comenzar el segundo semestre.

 

BIENVENIDAS Y DESPEDIDAS

Al fin del semestre, debemos decir adiós a algunos profesores y asistentes de este año.  Estamos muy agradecidos con cada uno de ellos por  su enorme ayuda e impacto en nuestros estudiantes durante el semestre. Decimos adiós a:

Deseamos muchas bendiciones y lo mejor en Dios para sus planes futuros.

Esperamos dar la bienvenida a Charlie y Tami Thorsen (profesores de Biblia en Secundaria) y a nuevos profesores: Tim y Elizabeth Donald (Primaria, Inglés y Sociales)  Continúe orando por maestros que están planeando venir y servir en  CCS.

 

RECTIFICACIÓN DE INFORMACION HECHA

En el último chatter, colocamos erradamente información para los estudiantes de PK y Kinder,  como se hacía en años anteriores. Por favor tome en cuenta que PK y Kinder tendrán clases el día jueves 17 y viernes 18 de diciembre. Sus clases terminarán a medio día de manera que puedan regresar a sus casas juntamente con los otros estudiantes en los buses escolares.

 

DESCANSO EN LAS OFICINAS DEL CCS

Tome nota que las oficinas del colegio estarán cerradas desde el medio día del jueves, 24 de diciembre debido a vacación por Navidad. Volveremos a atender el día lunes, 4 de enero del 2010.  Deseamos una feliz Navidad a todos nuestros trabajadores quienes ayudan para que el colegio funcione eficientemente cada día.

 

PROGRAMA DE NAVIDAD, 17 DE DICIEMBRE

Nuestros estudiantes han estado preparando el Programa Anual de Navidad el cual se celebrará el jueves, 17 de diciembre a las 7:00 p.m.  Los estudiantes de Primaria están practicando para el drama y otros números especiales, mientras que los de Secundaria están aprendiendo canciones para el coro. Una carta fue enviada recientemente refiriéndose al código de vestimenta para esa noche. Queremos agradecer muy especialmente a la Sra. Joanna Murrin y la Sra. Bonnie Timmer por todo su trabajo y dedicación para dirigir este programa.  Invitamos a las familias del colegio y a sus amistades para celebrar con coros  y dramas  el nacimiento de Nuestro Salvador.

Recordamos a los estudiantes de Primaria que deben estar en sus aulas a las 6:30 p.m. el día jueves.

 

AGRADECIMIENTO POR EL PROYECTO DE NAVIDAD
Nuestros estudiantes y el equipo de CCS han estado recolectando regalos para darlos a  niños de orfanatos de Cochabamba. Contamos con la participación de todos ustedes de manera que podamos tener suficiente para cada niño. La próxima semana estaremos repartiendo los regalos a los niños de estos hogares. Agradecemos a cada uno de los que han contribuido en este proyecto.

 

FIN DEL PRIMER SEMESTRE, ENTREGA DE LIBRETAS EL  18 DE DICIEMBRE

La fecha oficial de la culminación del Primer Semestre es el  18 de diciembre.

Las libretas del semestre serán enviadas el viernes 18 de diciembre a medio día.

Les recordamos que las siguientes obligaciones deben estar cumplidas antes de recibir sus libretas:

  • Todas las pensiones deben estar canceladas, incluyendo pagos al comedor y  buses.
  • Los Formularios de Servicio Comunitario deben ser entregados (cursos 9 al 12)
  • Multas a la biblioteca deben ser canceladas y todo libro devuelto.
  • Toda deuda  escolar debe estar cancelada, incluyendo pensiones, comedor y transporte (bus)
  • Todo equipo deportivo o uniformes prestados deben ser devueltos.

 

También necesitamos saber si algún estudiante ya no continuará en el  CCS el próximo semestre. Estos estudiantes deben  llenar anticipadamente el "Formulario de salida" color verde, para que se les entregue sus libretas.

 

DEVOLUCION DE UNIFORMES DEPORTIVOS

Los estudiantes que estuvieron en los equipos deportivos este semestre deben devolver sus uniformes antes que el semestre concluya. Aquellos que no devuelvan sus uniformes no recibirán libretas en la fecha indicada.

 

EXAMENES PARA SECUNDARIA, 14 AL 16 DE DICIEMBRE

Los exámenes finales del semestre serán  de lunes a miércoles, 14 al 16 de diciembre. Padres y estudiantes deben revisar en el Handbook  los reglamentos sobre exámenes antes de esa semana.   Los estudiantes que  no tengan exámenes por la tarde deberán salir del colegio luego de su último examen. No habrá almuerzo disponible para Secundaria.

 

ENSAYO DEL CORO PARA SECUNDARIA – MARTES 15 DE DICIEMBRE

Habrá un ensayo general para el coro del CCS – Secundaria el día martes 15 a horas 11:45 a.m. Todos los estudiantes de los cursos 7 al 12 deben estar presentes en esta práctica.  Cada estudiante deberá responsabilizarse por su  transporte de regreso a su hogar a horas 12:45.

 

HORARIO PARA EXAMENES FINALES  14 – 18 DE DICIEMBRE

 

Lunes – miércoles                Las clases en Primaria serán normales.

                                                Exámenes en Secundaria por las mañanas.

                                                Los estudiantes de Secundaria deben salir del colegio luego de su último examen.

Jueves 17                              No habrá clases para Secundaria.

Los estudiantes de Primaria saldrán  del colegio a medio día.

                                                Esto incluye a los estudiantes de PK y Kinder quienes  también saldrán a medio día.

No habrá servicio de comedor.

                                                El programa de Navidad comenzará  a las 7:00 p.m.

Todos los estudiantes desde PK hasta el Curso 12 deben estar en el colegio a las 6:30 p.m.

Viernes 18                             Los estudiantes  incluyendo a los de PK y Kinder deben estar en el colegio en el horario normal.

                                                Las libretas serán distribuidas a medio día.

                                                El Primer Semestre termina y los buses saldrán a medio día.

 

REGLAMENTOS DEL ESTUDIANTE
Uso de teléfonos del colegio y celulares

Los celulares están permitidos pero bajo responsabilidad del estudiante.  El uso de estos está permitido solamente en horario de recreo y almuerzo.  No podrán ser  usados para escuchar música en ningún momento.

 

Los celulares deben estar apagados (no en modalidad de silencio) y fuera de la vista en horario de clases. Si un celular sonase durante clases, éste será confiscado por el maestro  y para recuperarlo uno de los padres deberá  venir a recogerlo. Si la acción se repite, medidas más serias serán hechas incluyendo la confiscación del celular hasta el final del semestre.

 

Por favor tome en cuenta que  los celulares deben ser usados únicamente para comunicarse y sólo cuando sea absolutamente necesario, ya sea en el tiempo de recreo o almuerzo. Los celulares jamás deberán ser usados para escuchar música, ver videos o ingresar a internet  mientras estén dentro de los ambientes del colegio. Los celulares usados para cualquiera de las rezones mencionadas ya sea dentro del colegio o en alguna salida escolar, podrán ser confiscados.
