WELCOME TO THE 2ND SEMESTER
We welcome everyone to the second semester of our 2009/2010 school year. We especially welcome all students who are returning to CCS after a time away and those who may be entering CCS for the first time. We anticipate a good semester for everyone. We have a great deal of activities that will be happening throughout the semester, including a drama production and Field Days. We look forward to seeing what God has in store for each one in the semester ahead.
CHANGES WITHIN OUR STAFF
We welcome to CCS quite a few new staff members for this semester. We are thankful for God´s leading them to us. We look forward to see how God will use them during their time here: These are our new staff members who have come for this semester:
Katie Port will be here as a student teacher. She will be working with Mrs. Steele in Grade 1.
Christine Leonetti will teach half days in Grade 3, Mrs. Cook will teach Grade 3 in the afternoons.
Tim Donald will teach Elementary PE and assist in other grades
Liz Donald will teach English and Social Studies in Grade 7 and 8
Stephen Bryce will work with Mr. Sidmore in HS PE and will assist other grades
Beth Bergen will be teach Reading and help with our elementary Curriculum in various grades
Chris Putnam will teachHS Math
Katherine Roten will teach Grade 9 English and Drama; she will also be directing a HS Drama.
We also welcome back to CCS Mr. and Mrs. Thorsen, our HS Chaplains and Bible Teachers
WELCOME TO OUR NEW RECEPTIONIST
We welcome to the CCS support administrative staff Liliana Camama who will be our secretary-receptionist. One of her many responsibilities is to answer your phone calls when you call the school.

SCHOOL BEGINS AT 8:25AM
We remind our school families that the school day begins at 8:25a.m. All students should be on campus before 8:15a.m. and physically in their home room at 8:25a.m. or they will be counted late. If you do not ride the school bus, please make sure that your driver gets you to the school by 8:15a.m. in order to avoid consequences for tardies.
FIELD DAYS ANNOUNCEMENTS
The 2010 annual Field Days Events are set for Thursday and Friday, 25 and 26 March. The date for Field Days is earlier in the semester than in previous years so we ask that both parents and students alike take note of the following announcements:
- All students have received an Event Entry sheet. These need to be returned as soon as possible.
- Field Days are official school days and all students are expected to participate. Please do not plan any vacation or travelling that will conflict with Field Days.
- A list of team assignments has been made and will be sent home with the event registration. Please make sure you know which team your family has been assigned to. You may call the school office if you have any questions concerning this.
- Students must have a team color shirt for Field Days. Please return the order form attached to the chatter by Thursday, January 28, 2010, if you need to order a team shirt.
- The longer runs of 800, 1500 and 3000 meters will be held soon after Carnaval Holiday. If you sign up for these longer runs, please begin training now.
Distance races set for field days
All students who have signed up for the longer races should take note of the following dates. All of these races will begin promptly at 8:45 am on the following dates
- 3000 m Run Friday, 26 February
- 1500 m Run Tuesday 9 March
- 800 m Run Monday 15March
It is important that runners are preparing themselves for these longer races.
OTHER SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENTS
Both the Girls and Boys Basketball teams have begun practices. Our cheering teams will also begin their training. There will be a number of games and sports events scheduled as we move through the semester. Please keep alert for announcements regarding them.
Each basketball player has been given a permission slip for travel and participation in basketball that should be signed by a parent and returned to the school promptly. Please ask your son/daughter for this permission slip.
We thank our coaches for their willingness to work with this year's basketball teams: Mr. Jones and Mr. Sidmorewill be coaching the girls' team, and Mr. Cook and Mr. Brycewill be coaching the boys, and Mrs. Jones will be our cheerleader supervisor. Thank you coaches for the time you give our students.
EMERGENCY PLANS NOTICE
In the event that there are paros or other social disturbances, we need every child´s home and emergency telephone numbers on file in the school office. We also need all family email addresses. We ask that if any of your contact numbers have changed since August to call the school and leave the new numbers with Miss Camama. Please also take note of the following in the event that school must be cancelled.
- In the case that school must be cancelled, a teacher will call to let you know of the cancellation. Please always assume that school will be in session unless you receive an official call telling you otherwise.
- In the event that school is cancelled, students may be given work to be done at home during the day when there is no school. Parents should ensure that this work is completed and returned to school on the next day with classes.
CARNAVAL NOTICE
Carnaval holiday will be Monday and Tuesday, 15 & 16 February. There will be no school on these days. As we are entering the "season" of water throwing, we remind all students that the school does not allow balloons or water devices of any type at school or on the busses. Students who bring these items to school will have them confiscated and the students will be reprimanded appropriately for rules violations.
BUS NOTIFICATION NOTICE
For security reasons the school CANNOT make any changes for students riding busses without a written notice that has been signed by a parent. This must be presented to Mr. Vargas by 10:00a.m. for the change to take place.
FINANCE OFFICE
We remind our CCS family that Mr. Mario Bustillos will receive school fees, issue receipts or facturas and answer your questions regarding your bills. We also remind you that school tuition is due on the 10th of each month for those who pay monthly. There will be a 5% discount for those who pay for the entire semester before February. School Fees are due on February 10th, 2009 for this coming semester.
UNIFORM NOTICES
We remind everyone that all students must be in complete uniform every day. Please do not come with excuses as to why your uniform was left at home. We also ask that parents write the names of their children in their uniforms and outer garments so that if a piece of clothing goes missing, it can be returned.
HANDBOOK MATTERS
Personal Property
The school cannot be held responsible for the loss or damage of personal items brought to school. Students should therefore not bring large amounts of money or valuable items to school. If a valuable item (e.g. camera or laptop) is brought to school for class use, it may be kept in the Director´s office until the item is needed. The school specifically prohibits the use of all music playing devices during school hours and the possession of dangerous weapons. Prohibited items found on students at school may be confiscated and held until the end of the semester when they will be returned to the parents. School disciplinary measures will be followed for having or using prohibited items at school.
SENIOR RE-ENTRY SEMINARS IN USA
High School students who are returning to North America in June for furlough or after graduation are encouraged to attend one of the several re-entry seminars that are available. These are always very helpful for the transition from the TCK culture here into the university/youth culture in North America. Here are two possible seminar providers that you are welcome to check out:

CONCERNING THE GRADUATING CLASS OF 2010 - FAFSA
All students who are planning on entering a university in the US must fill out a FAFSA form, which is a US government form that determines financial need. This form must be filled out every year and should not be overlooked. The form can be filled out on line at http://fafsa.ed.gov/fotw0304/fslookup.htm American Citizens must also provide tax documentation from their parent's tax records.

BIENVENIDOS AL SEGUNDO SEMESTRE
Les damos la bienvenida al segundo semestre de nuestro año escolar 2009/2010. Especialmente damos la bienvenida a todos aquellos estudiantes que regresaron al colegio y a los nuevos estudiantes, deseamos que sea un buen semestre para todos. Hay muchas actividades que se realizarán durante el curso del semestre, incluida una obra teatral y Field Days. Estamos deseosos de ver lo que Dios tiene planeado para todos nosotros en este semestre.
MAESTROS NUEVOS
Bienvenidos a CCS los maestros nuevos para este semestre. Gracias le damos a Dios por haber guiado su camino y ver la manera en que Dios los estará usando durante su estadía acá: Esta es la lista de todos ellos.

LAS CLASES EMPIEZAN AL LAS 8:25AM
Recordamos a las familias del colegio que las clases empiezan a las 8:25a.m. Todos los estudiantes deben estar en el colegio antes de las 8:15a.m. y en sus clases a las 8:25a.m. caso contrario tendrán atraso. Si no viene al colegio en los buses, por favor asegúrense de que sus taxistas lleguen a las 8:15a.m. y evitar las consecuencias de los atrasos.
ANUNCIOS DE LOS DIAS DEPORTIVOS
Los días deportivos del 2010 están programados para el jueves 25 y viernes 26 de marzo. Esta fecha es diferente a los anteriores años, por favor, pedimos a los alumnos y padres de familia tomar en cuenta los siguientes anuncios:
- Todos los estudiantes recibieron una hoja para llenar las actividades que realizarán en estos días. Este formulario deberá ser devuelto lo más antes posible.
- Los días deportivos son días oficiales de clases en los que todos los estudiantes deben participar. Por favor no planee vacaciones o viajes durante este tiempo.
- Una lista indicando el color de equipo en el que están sus hijos/as será enviada, lo mismo la inscripción a los diferentes eventos. Por favor asegúrese de saber el color del equipo al que pertence. Puede llamar a la oficina del colegio si tiene alguna pregunta al respecto.
- Los estudiantes deben usar la polera del color de su equipo asignado durante estos días. Por favor , si desea pedir una polera devuelva la hoja de pedido adjunta al Chatter hasta el jueves 28 de enero.
- Las carreras de 800, 1500 y 3000 metros se llevarán a cabo después del feriado de Carnavales. Si se inscribió en alguna de estaz carreras, le aconsejamos que vaya entrenando.
CARRERAS DE LARGA DISTANCIA
Los estudiantes inscritos para estas carreras tomen en cuenta las siguientes fechas. Todas las carreras empezarán a las 8:45 am, las siguientes fechas.
- 3000 m viernes, 26 febrero
- 1500 m martes 9 marzo
- 800 m lunes 15 marzo
Es importante que los estudiantes se vayan preparando para estas carreras.
ANUNCIOS DEPORTIVOS
Ambos equipos chicas y chicos empezaron sus entrenamientos de Basket. El equipo de porristas también empezará su entrenamiento. Habrán numerosos juegos y deportes durante el semestre. Manténgase al tanto de los futuros anuncios.
A todos los jugadores de basket se les entregó una hoja de permiso a ser llenada y firmada por los padres de familia lo más antes posible. Por favor pregunte a su hijo/a acerca de este permiso.
Agradecemos a nuestros entrenadores por su deseo de trabajar con nuestros equipos de basket: El Sr. Jones y el Sr. Sidmore entrenarán al equipo de basket señoritas, y el Sr. Cook y el Sr. Bryce estarán a cargo del equipo de basket varones, la Sra Jones es la encargada del entrenamiento del equipo de porristas. Gracias a todos ellos por su buena voluntad.
PLAN DE EMERGENCIA
En el caso de que hubiesen paros o bloqueos, necesitamos para los archivos del colegio números telefónicos actualizados de su casa o teléfonos de emergencia. También requerimos direcciones electrónicas. Informe a la Secretaria Srta. Camama si sus números cambiaron últimamente. Por favor tome en cuenta lo siguiente en caso de que haya suspensión de actividades.
- En caso de cancelación de clases un professor le llamará par comunicarle. Si no recibió una llamada assume que las clases se realizarán nomrmalmente.
- Si las clases fuesen canceladas se asignarán tareas para realizarlas en casa. Los padres deberán asegurarse que sus hijos/as cumplan y entreguen sus tareas el primer día normal de clases.
CARNAVAL
El feriado de Carnaval es el lunes 15 y martes 16 de febrero, estos días no habrá clases. Recordamos a los estudiantes que no es permitido el juego con globos, ni agua en el colegio ni en los buses. Los alumnos que infrinjan esta regla serán sancionados de acuerdo al Manual de Estudiantes.
BUSES
Por razones de seguridad el colegio NO PUEDE realizar ningún cambio de buses para los estudiantes, sin una nota firmada por los padres, nota que deberá ser presentada al Sr. Vargas hasta las 10 de la mañana.
OFICINA DE CONTABILIDAD
Recordamos a las familias de CCS que el Sr. Mario Bustillos es el encargado de recibir pensiones, emitir facturas y aclarar cualquier duda concerniente a sus estados de cuentas. Recuerde que las pensiones deben ser canceladas hasta el 10 de cada mes. Hay un descuento del 5% para aquellos que pagan un semestre completo. La pensión de este mes deberá ser cancelada hasta el 10 febrero.
UNIFORMES
No olvide que todos los estudiantes deben asistir uniformados al colegio. No se aceptan excusas al respecto. De la misma manera pedimos a los padres que marquen los uniformes y otras vestimentas de sus hijos de manera que puedan ser reconocidas y devueltas.
REGLAMENTOS DEL ESTUDIANTE
Propiedades Personales
El colegio no se responsabiliza por la pérdida o daños de cualquier item personal. Por consiguiente, los estudiante no deben traer sumas altas de dinero u objetos valiosos. Si uno de estos ítems es traído para uso en clases al colegio (cámara o laptop) deberá ser dejada en la oficina del Director hasta que sea requerido. El colegio prohibe el uso de todo aparato de música y la posesión de armas peligrosas. Si un estudiante es encontrado en posesión de uno de estos se le confiscará hasta el fin de semestre y será devuelto a uno de los padres de familia. School disciplinary measures will be followed for having or using prohibited items at school. En estos casos se seguirán los Reglamentos disciplinarios del Manual del Estudiante.
SENIOR RE-ENTRY SEMINARS IN USA
A los alumnos de Medio que regresarán a los Estados Unidos en Junio se les recomiendo asistir a alguno de los Seminarios de Reingreso disponible. Estos son beneficiosos para el proceso de transición de hijos de misioneros tanto acá como en los Estados Unidos. Tome en cuenta estas posibles opciones:

PROMOCION 2010 - FAFSA
Los estudiantes que tengan planes de ingresar a una Universidad en los Estados Unidos deben llenar un FAFSA el cual es un formulario del gobierno americano para determinar su situación económica. Este formulario debe ser completado cada año en la página http://fafsa.ed.gov/fotw0304/fslookup.htm Los ciudadanos americanos deberán mostrar documentación de impuestos de los padres.
