CHANGES WITHIN OUR STAFF

We welcome to CCS Dr. and Mrs. Erik Lindquist.  They are teaching our Grade 9 and 10 science classes.  We inadvertently ommitted their names from the list of new teachers in the last Chatter.  Welcome!

 

CARNAVAL HOLIDAY IS 15 AND 16 OF FEBRUARY

Carnaval holiday will be Monday and Tuesday, 15 & 16 February.  There will be no school on these days.    School will resume on Wednesday, 17 February.    Again we remind all students that the school does not allow balloons or water devices of any type at school or on the busses. 

 

CARACHI PALOOZA WILL BE 26 FEBRUARY

Carachipampa is again sponsoring a night of art and creativity for our students on Friday, 26 February.   It will be CARACHI PALOOZA – Celebrate the Arts Night.    Here is a taste of what will be on the menu:   Musical Talent  (Voice &/or instrumental)  Art and Literature, Culinary Arts and more surprises are in store.    Plan now to participate or to come and enjoy the evening with the CCS Family.  Here is some preliminary information for those "budding" artists in our school:

 

  • All art and literature entries must be submitted by the 22nd of FEBRUARY.
  • Musical entries will be arranged through your music classes and auditions.
  • Sign-ups for Culinary Arts (cooking) will be posted after Carnaval.
  • Please begin preparing your music/art/literature entries now!

 

FIELD DAYS ANNOUNCEMENTS

Student Field Day Entry forms have been entered into the computer and a sheet is being sent home with a list of what events students have chosen to participate in.   Parents of elementary children should review these sheets to make sure the events listed are accurate for your child.  If there is an error, please correct it on the sheet and return it to the elementary teacher.   High school students who find an error in their entry should talk directly with Mr. Scoggan or Mr. Bryce to correct it.

 

All students who have signed up for the longer races should take note of the following dates.  All of these races will begin promptly at 8:45 am on the following dates.  Students will need to wear Field Days shirts in the races.

  • 3000 m Run Friday, 26 February
  • 1500 m Run Tuesday 9 March
  • 800 m Run Monday 15March

Students should begin preparing themselves for these longer races now. 

 

OTHER SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENTS

The results are finally official and congratulations to the girls' soccer team and coaches (Monte and Andrea Wilson) for finishing first in the Cochabamba League this past semester.  The team was presented the 1st place trophy and it has been on display at the front desk this week.  Great job ladies...and to the seniors on the team...thank you for your leadership, you will be missed next year!

Basketball practices continue to go well for the boys and girls.  We hope to start scheduling some games after the Carnaval break.  Be looking for future announcements and plan on coming out to support the teams. 

 

ALICE IN WONDERLAND IS COMING 29 & 30 APRIL

This year Carachipampa is pleased to announce that the drama, Alice in Wonderland, will be performed by a CCS cast of 20 students.  There will be two evenings of presentations, on Thursday 29 and Friday, 30 of April.   Miss Katherine Roten will be directing the play.    More details will be coming soon, but get this must go to eventon your calendar now!

 

COLLEGE FAIR WILL BE ON 17 MARCH

This year Carachipampa will be hosting a number of representatives from a variety of Christian Colleges in the USA.  This will be an opportunity for grades 9-12 students to learn more about post-secondary education.  Please watch for more details in the near future and put this date on your calendar now. 

 

Accepting new pre kinder enrolments

If families of the school have children who will be 4 years old before 1 August 2010, they may enroll them now in our Pre Kinder class for 2010/2011 school year.   We try to reserve space in PK for siblings of our current students, but space is limited.  Please enroll your PK child now for the next school year.

 

REGISTER FOR THE SAT AND AP EXAMS

Students who are planning on taking an AP Exam should register with Mr. Scoggan in the next few weeks.   An information sheet has been distributed to all students regarding the exams, which will cost Bs 600 this year.     Students who register for but do not take an exam will be charged Bs 100 Bs     Students do NOT need to pay when they register, but payment must be made to Mario Bustillos in the Finance Office by 30 April. 

 

The SAT I and SAT II Subject tests are given at Calvert and AISB several times this semester.   Grade 11 students normally take this test in May.    The test will cost $US 73 and must be paid for with a US dollar credit card.    Students must register on line at www.collegeboard.org.  The test registration deadlines are soon.  Please see Mr. Scoggan for more information regarding either the AP Exams or the SAT.

 

HANDBOOK MATTERS

 

Guidelines concerning the CCS Uniform

All students must wear the official school uniform at all times on campus.   Students may wear a sweater or jacket over their shirt, but the outer wrap must meet the general guidelines for CCS clothing as specified in the school handbook.  The guidelines for wearing the uniform or any clothing while at CCS are the following

 

  • Boys must keep their shirt tucked into their trousers
  • Uniforms must be clean and not marked on or worn with holes
  • Uniforms cannot be altered to make skirts too short or sleeves or pants unreasonably tight
  • Only uniform clothing purchased from the CCS Supplier is allowed.  Wearing other ¨same color¨ trousers or shirts is not allowed.
  • Students are not allowed to have hoods up or wear hats or caps in the classrooms or in the chapel
  • Boys may not wear any body piercing jewelry of any kind
  • Girls are only allowed to wear earrings.  No other body piercing jewelry is allowed.
  • Sunglasses are only allowed outdoors and may not be worn in any building.

 

Physical Education Class

All students are to participate in PE Classes at CCS.   High School students are required to wear the official uniform during the PE instructional time.   This includes having appropriate shoes.    High School students who do not have their complete uniform will not be allowed to participate in class and marks will be deducted from their PE grade as a consequence. In addition a TRV (Tardy/Rules Violation) will be given to them.   In the event that a student is physically unable to participate in PE a note from a parent or a doctor's note must be provided to excuse them from PE Class.

 

On days that High School students have PE, they may not wear their PE uniform in other classes.  They must change into and out of their PE uniform. 

 

Elementary students are not required to have a separate PE uniform.   If Elementary students choose to wear a CCS PE uniform, they may wear it all day and do not need to change into and out of it for their PE Class.  However Elementary students may not wear their PE uniform on days other than when they have PE.

 CAMBIOS EN EL PLANTEL DOCENTE

Damos la bienvenida al Dr. Lindquist y su esposa.  Ellos están enseñando Ciencias a los cursos 9 y 10.  Omitimos sus nombres en el anterior Chatter.

 

CARNAVAL

El feriado de Carnaval es el lunes 15 y martes 16 de febrero, estos días no habrá clases. Las clases se normalizan desde el miércoles 17. Nuevamente recordamos a los estudiantes que no es permitido el juego con globos, ni agua en el colegio ni en los buses.

 

CARACHI PALOOZA  26 DE FEBRERO

El CCS nuevamente organiza una noche de arte   y creatividad para nuestros estudiantes a realizarse el viernes, 26 de febrero.  Este es denominado CARACHIPALOOZA –  Celebrando la noche de arte.    He aquí un aperitivo de lo que  estará en el menú: Talento Musical (voces &/o instrumentos) Arte y  Literatura, Arte Culinario y muchas sorpresas más. Prepárese para  participar y disfrutar de esta noche con la familia del CCS.  A continuación la información  para nuestros "talentosos artistas" del colegio.

 

  • Trabajos de Arte y Literatura deben ser entregados hasta el 22 de febrero.
  • Las inscripciones y audiciones para Música se realizarán en las clases de música.
  • Inscripciones para Artes Culinarias (cocina) serán abiertas luego de Carnavales.
  • Por favor, comience a prepararse para participar en uno de estos.
 
ANUNCIOS DE LOS DIAS DEPORTIVOS

Los formularios de eventos deportivos han sido registrados en la computadora y una hoja con información sobre los eventos que  cada estudiante eligió será enviada a casa. Los padres de estudiantes en Primaria deben revisar estas hojas y asegurarse que cada evento es el correcto para su hijo/hija. Si hubiese  error, por favor corríjalo en la hoja y devuélvala  a la profesora de curso. Los estudiantes de Secundaria que encuentren algún error en su elección, para corregirlo deben hablar directamente con el Sr. Scoggan o el Sr. Bryce.

 

Todos los estudiantes que optaron por las carreras de larga distancia deben tomar en cuenta las siguientes fechas.  Todas las carreras empezarán a las 8:45 a.m.

  • 3000 m viernes 26 febrero
  • 1500 m martes 9 marzo
  • 800 m lunes 15 marzo

Es importante que los estudiantes se vayan preparando para estas carreras.

 

OTROS ANUNCIOS DEPORTIVOS

Tenemos los resultados oficiales para el equipo de fútbol  de las chicas. ¡Felicidades! Así también a los entrenadores (Monte y Andrea Wilson) por lograr el primer lugar en la Liga cochabambina el pasado semestre. Se entregó un trofeo de Primer Lugar al equipo el cual está siendo exhibido en la oficina esta semana.  Buen trabajo señoritas... y a las de la promoción dentro del equipo... gracias por su liderazgo, las extrañaremos  el próximo año.

 Las prácticas de basket   marchan bien tanto para chicos y chicas. Esperamos programar algunos juegos luego de los feriados de Carnavales. Esté atento para esto y planee venir y apoyar a los equipos.

 

ALICIA EN EL PAIS DE LAS MARAVILLAS  29 Y 30 DE ABRIL

Este año el Carachipampa tiene el honor de anunciar que el drama "Alicia en el País de las Maravillas" será  realizado por un equipo teatral de 20 estudiantes del CCS.  Tendremos dos noches de presentación, el jueves 29 y viernes 30 de abril. La Srta. Katherine  Roten es la directora de la obra teatral.  Tendremos más detalles pronto, sin embargo, vaya marcando en su calendario estas fechas.

 

FERIA UNIVERSITARIA  17 DE MARZO

El CCS estará recibiendo a varios representantes de  distintas universidades cristianas de los Estados Unidos. Esta será una oportunidad para los estudiantes de los cursos 9 al 12 para aprender más sobre educación post-secundaria.  Estén atentos a  mayores  informes y anótelos en su calendario.

Si las familias del colegio tienen hijos que cumplirán cuatro años  antes del primero de agosto, pueden inscribirlos ahora  Pre Kinder para la gestión 2010/2011.  Tratamos de reservar plaza para los hermanos de los estudiantes en el CCS, sin embargo, las plazas son limitadas.  Inscriba a sus hijos a PK ahora.

 EXAMENES DE SAT y AP

Los estudiantes que estén pensando tomar un examen de AP deben registrarse con el Sr. Scoggan en las siguientes semanas.  Una hoja de información al respecto fue distribuida a los estudiantes. El costo del examen es de 600 bolivianos.  Los estudiantes que se registren y no tomen el examen deberán pagar 100 Bs.  No es necesario pagar al momento de inscribirse, pero la cancelación debe estar hecha hasta el 30 de abril en la oficina de contabilidad con el Sr. Bustillos.

 El  SAT I y SAT II  vienen realizándose en  el Calvert y el AISB durante diferentes fechas este trimestre.  Los estudiantes del curso 11  generalmente toman este examen en mayo. El costo es de 73 $us.  y debe ser pagado con tarjeta de crédito. Los estudiantes pueden registrarse por Internet en la siguiente página:  www.colegeboard.org.  La fecha límite para registrarse termina pronto. Por favor  contáctese con el Sr. Scoggan para mayor información.

 MANUAL DEL ESTUDIANTE

 Todo estudiante debe vestir el uniforme oficial mientras se encuentre en los predios del establecimiento.  Los estudiantes pueden usar chompas o chamarras, pero lo demás debe regirse al código de vestimenta del CCS especificado en el Manual del Estudiante.

Las directrices para el uso de uniformes u otra vestimenta mientras estén dentro de CCS son las siguientes:

  • Los muchachos deben tener la camiseta dentro del pantalón.
  • Los uniformes deben estar limpios, sin marcas o agujereados.
  • Los uniformes no deben ser reconfeccionados para volverlas faldas más cortas o las mangas o pantalones apretados.
  • Sólo los uniformes adquiridos de nuestra proveedora son los oficiales. Pantalones o camisetas del mismo color adquiridos de otras tiendas NO son aceptables.
  • Los estudiantes no pueden usar gorras o sombreros ni cubrirse la cabeza con la capucha de su chamarra durante clases o en la capilla.
  • Las muchachas pueden usar aretes, pero ningún otro tipo de perforaciones.
  • Los muchachos no pueden usar ninguna joya que sea de uso con perforación.
  • Los lentes de sol son permitidos solamente para afuera. No se permite usarlos dentro de ningún recinto interior del colegio.

 Clases de Educación Física

Todos los estudiantes deben participar en las clases de Educación Física. Los estudiantes de Secundaria deben usar los uniformes  correspondientes, incluyendo zapatos deportivos, para esta material durante las clases de Educación Física. Los estudiantes que no tengan su uniforme completo no podrán pasar  la clase y esto afectará a su nota en esta materia. Además, recibirá un TRV. Si un estudiante estuviera imposibilitado de pasar  Educación Física, una nota  de los padres o un doctor debe ser enviada de manera que se le excuse de esa clase.

Los estudiantes de Secundaria deben usar sus uniformes de Educación Física durante y solamente en estas clases. 

 Los estudiantes de Primaria no están obligados a usar el uniforme de Educación Física, para ellos, es opcional. Sin embargo, ellos deberán usar zapatillas deportivas los días que tengan Educación Física. Ellos podrán usar su uniforme de Educación Física durante el día que tenga está clase. Estos uniformes no podrán ser usados durante otros días.
