CARACHI PALOOZA WILL BE 26 FEBRUARY

CARACHI PALOOZA is next Friday, 26 February, 7:00 pm.   On the menu is a delightful selection of Musical Performances, Art and Literature works and Culinary Arts!.   There is still time for students to sign up for literary and art works and for our budding chefs to plan and bring a dessert.    Plan now to come and enjoy the evening with the CCS Family.  Here is some preliminary information for those "budding" artists in our school:

 

• All art and literature entries must be submitted by the 22^nd of FEBRUARY.
• Students may sign-up for Culinary Arts (cooking) through Thursday, February 25.

 

All performers must be at the gym by 5:00 pm and all dessert entries by 6:00 pm on Friday, February 26^th.  Performers who miss their sound check may not be allowed to perform and late dessert entries may be disqualified.

 

CALENDAR CHANGES

Teacher Professional Development Workshop - March 2^nd.

Please note that School will close at noon on March 2^nd and all children (including PK and Kinder children) will be sent home at that time.  There will be no lunch served that day at CCS.  The reason for this change is to allow time for a teacher Professional Development workshop which will be held in the afternoon for all CCS teachers.

 

Report Card Changes – March 22nd

In order to accommodate some recent formatting changes to our Bolivian libretas, we will be adjusting the formatting of our international report card as well.  Report cards will be sent home on Monday, March 22^nd instead of Friday, March 19^th.  Parent Teacher Interviews will still be held on Wednesday, March 24^th.

 

LONGER RUNS SET FOR FIELD DAYS

All students who have signed up for the longer races should take note of the following dates.  All of these races will begin promptly at 8:45 am on the following dates.  Students will need to wear Field Days shirts in the races.

• 3000 m Run Friday, 26 February
• 1500 m Run Tuesday 9 March
• 800 m Run Monday 15 March

Students should begin preparing themselves for these longer races now.  Parents are welcome to come watch their children run in these races.

 

FIELD DAYS T-SHIRTS CAN BE PICKED UP

If you ordered a Field Days Team shirt, please remember to pick them up soon.   Families must pay for and pick up their shirts at the tienda of our school supplier on Calle Antezana.   Please do NOT send any money to Carachipampa.  

 

OTHER SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENTS

Our first basketball games are scheduled for Saturday (Feb. 27^th) in the Carachipampa gym with Calvert.  The games will begin at 10:00 am.  Please come out and support the players and cheer them on to victory. 

 

COLLEGE FAIR CANCELED

We regret to announce that due to circumstances beyond our control, the planned for ¨College Fair¨ tour which was to have been on the 17^th of March has had to be cancelled.

 

Accepting new pre kinder enrolments

If families of the school have children who will be 4 years old before 1 August 2010, they may enroll them now in our Pre Kinder class for 2010/2011 school year.   We try to reserve space in PK for siblings of our current students, but space is limited.  Please enroll your PK child now for the next school year.

 

REGISTER FOR THE SAT AND AP EXAMS

There is still time for our HS Juniors and Seniors to register with Mr. Scoggan for any AP exam they may be preparing for.   An information sheet has been distributed to all students regarding the exams, which will cost Bs 600 this year.     Students must register for this exam by Friday 26 March, but payment can be made later.  

 

The SAT I and SAT II Subject tests are given at Calvert and AISB several times this semester.   Grade 11 students normally take this test in May.    The test will cost $US 73 and must be paid for with a US dollar credit card.    Students must register on line at www.collegeboard.org.  The test registration deadlines are soon.  Please see Mr. Scoggan for more information regarding either the AP Exams or the SAT.

HANDBOOK MATTERS

Use Of Other Languages In Classes                             

Carachipampa is an English speaking school.  Speaking English in classes will help those who need to practice their English conversational skills.  It is also inconsiderate for students to speak in Spanish or other languages (including sign language) in classes where teachers may not understand what is being communicated.  Therefore, teachers may prohibit the use of Spanish or other languages in their classes.

 

Notice Regarding Absences

Parents are reminded that extended absences from school affect the academic progress of their children.  Therefore we ask that you avoid traveling or taking vacations during school days.  If your child or children need to miss school for family reasons, please present a letter (at least a week in advance) to the Director asking permission for the absence (See "Known Absences" on page 11 of the School Handbook).  Please give details of the dates to be missed.   The school is not obligated to give make-up work for absences that have no prior approval.   Please note that even with permission; it is the student's responsibility to see teachers for work missed and to turn it in on the date due.

 

When students are absent from school due to sickness or emergencies, parents are to notify the school before 8:30 am on the day of the absence (See "Excused and Unexcused Absences" on page 11 of the School Handbook).  When your child returns to school, we also ask you to please send a note with a brief explanation for the absence (sickness, tramites, etc.) and signed by the parent or guardian.  This note should be given to the receptionist at the front office on the first day back.  Students who do not follow these procedures are considered absent UNEXCUSED and measures may be taken by the school including giving zeros on assignments due.   We especially note that for no reason may a student miss a class in order to do homework or other school work in that or another class.

26 DE FEBRERO SE REALIZARA EL CARACHI PALOOZA

El CARACHI PALOOZA es el viernes 26 de febrero a las, 7:00 p.m.   Ustedes podrán apreciar una selección maravillosa de actuaciones musicales, arte y literatura de igual manera la parte culinaria. Las inscripciones están todavía abiertas para todas aquellas personas que quieran participar en las diferentes manifestaciones artísticas este día. Planee desde ahora participar y disfrutar de esta noche de talentos con la familia de CCS. Informamos lo siguiente a nuestros artistas  del colegio.

 

• Todos los trabajos de arte y literatura deben ser entregados hasta el 22 de FEBRERO.
• Los estudiantes que deseen participar en las Artes Culinarias deben inscribirse hasta el día jueves 25 de febrero.

 

Los participantes deben presentarse en el gimnasio a las 5:00 p.m. y los postres a las 6:00 p.m.  del viernes 26 de febrero.  Los participantes que no estén a la hora indicada perderán la oportunidad de participar y lo mismo con los postres, serán descalificados.

 

CAMBIO EN EL CALENDARIO

Taller de capacitación para profesores martes 2 de marzo

Por favor tome en cuenta lo siguiente el martes 2 de marzo el colegio estará cerrado a partir del medio día. Y todos los alumnos incluidos los de Kinder y Pre Kinder regresarán a casa a las 12. No se servirá almuerzo. La razón de este cambio se debe al Taller para Maestros que se realizará en la  tarde para todos los profesores de CCS.

 

Cambios en las libretas

Las libretas serán enviadas el lunes 22 de marzo en vez del viernes 19 de marzo. Estamos haciendo algunos cambios en las libretas de acuerdo a los cambios y formatos de las libreta bolivianas, también estamos realizando reajustes a nuestras libretas internacionales. Las entrevistas padres de familia-maestros serán el miércoles 24 de marzo.

 

CARRERAS LARGAS

Los estudiantes inscritos para las carreras largas deben tomar en cuenta lo siguiente. Las carreras empezarán a las 8:45 a.m.  Los participantes en dichas carreras deben usar el color de polera del equipo al que representan.

• Carrera de 3000 mViernes 26 de febrero
• Carrera de 1500 m Martes 9 de marzo
• Carrera de 800 m Lunes 15 de marzo

Se recomienda a los participantes empezar a practicar. Invitamos a los padres de familia venir al colegio a ver  a sus hijos/as en este evento.

 

LAS POLERAS PARA FIELD DAYS YA ESTAN LISTAS

Si hizo un pedido de poleras para  Field Days Team por favor recójalas lo más antes posible. Estas poleras deben ser recogida y cancelas directamente  del distribuidor, en la calle Antezana.  Por favor No enviar dinero al colegio. 

 

ANUNCIOS DEPORTIVOS

Nuestros primeros partidos de basket están programados para el día sábado 27 de febrero en el gimnasio de Carachipampa contra Calvert. Dichos partidos empezarán a las 10:00 am.  Por favor, venga, apoye y haga barra por nuestros equipos.

 

SE CANCELO LA FERIA UNIVERSITARIA

Lamentamos comunicar que debido a circunstancias fuera de nuestro  control la "Feria Universitaria" programada para el 17 marzo fue cancelada.

 

Inscripciones  para pre kinder

Si las familias del colegio tienen hijos que cumplirán cuatro años  antes del primero de agosto, pueden inscribirlos ahora  Pre Kinder para la gestión 2010/2011.  Tratamos de reservar plaza para los hermanos de los estudiantes en el CCS, sin embargo, las plazas son limitadas.  Inscriba a sus hijos a PK ahora.

INSCRIPCIONES PARA EXAMENES SAT Y  AP

Todavía hay tiempo para inscribirse con el Sr. Scoggan para dar los exámenes de SAT y AP. A los alumnos de Secundaria se les entregó información al respecto. El costo del examen este año de Bs. 600. La fecha límite para inscribirse es el 26 de marzo, el pago puede realizarse después

 

El  SAT I y SAT II  vienen realizándose en  el Calvert y el AISB durante diferentes fechas este trimestre.  Los estudiantes del curso 11  generalmente toman este examen en mayo. El costo es de 73 $us.  y debe ser pagado con tarjeta de crédito. Los estudiantes pueden registrarse por Internet en la siguiente página: www.collegeboard.org.  La fecha límite para registrarse termina pronto. MANUAL DEL ESTUDIANTE

Uso de otros idiomas en clases                       

Carachipampa es un colegio de habla inglesa. Hablar en inglés en las clases ayudará a aquellos que necesiten práctica inglés conversacional. Consideramos descortés que los estudiantes  hablen castellano u otros idiomas (incluyendo lenguaje de señas) en clases donde los profesores no entiendan. Por lo que los profesores pueden prohibir el uso de castellano u otros idiomas en sus clases.

 

Ausencias justificadas

Recordamos a los padres de familia que las ausencias largas del colegio afectan el desarrollo académico de los estudiantes, por esta razón les rogamos evitar viaje o tomar vacaciones durantes días académicos. Si su hija/o tiene que ausentarse de clases por motivos familiares, por favor presente una carta (por lo menos con una semana de anticipación) al Director solicitando el permiso respectivo (Ver el Manual del estudiante Pág. 11) Por favor incluya las fechas de ausencia.  El colegio no se responsabiliza de enviar tareas si el permiso no es aprobado. El estudiante debe tomar en cuenta que es su responsabilidad buscar a los profesores y entregar el trabajo dado durante su ausencia.  

 

En caso de que algún estudiante tenga que faltar a clases debido a enfermedad o emergencia, uno de los padres debe llamar al colegio antes de las 8:30 am del mismo día para notificar dicha ausencia. (Ver Manual del Estudiante Pág. 11 Ausencias Justificada e  injustificadas). El primer día que hijo/a regrese al colegio, mande una nota explicando los motivos de la falta (enfermedad, trámites, etc.) firmada por los padres o tutores. Esta nota deberá ser entregada a la recepcionista. Los estudiantes que no sigan este procedimiento su ausencia será considerada como INJUSTIFICADA y  el colegio procederá de acuerdo al Manuel de estudiantes. Por ningún motivo los estudiantes deben faltar a clases para completar tareas de esa u otra materia.
