CARACHIPALOOZA THANKS

We would like to thank Jamie Jones for heading up the Carachipalooza.  Thank you also to the teachers and the School Activities Team for their hard work in bringing all the details together.  Thanks to many who participated in helping out in any way and a very special Carachipalooza thanks goes to all the students who presented their talents in the arts.  It was a great night.

 

WELCOMES AND GOOD BYES

We must say, ¨Good bye¨ to Miss Beth Bergen who has been helping us out in the Elementary Grades this semester.    This ¨good bye¨ is only temporary, as Miss Bergen is planning on being here for the start of our next school year in August.   We also welcome to the CCS staff Miss Heather Marion who is here on an internship working in the Library and with the administration of Carachipampa.   Welcome, Miss Marion!

END OF THIRD QUARTER IS 12 MARCH; PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS ARE WEDNESDAY 24 MARCH

The Third Quarter officially ends on Friday 12 March and the mid semester interviews with parents are scheduled for Wednesday, 24 March in the afternoon.  Please make an effort to visit with your children's teachers about their school progress during this time.

REPORT CARD TO BE SENT HOME ON MARCH 22ND

We remind you that there has been a change in the day Mid Term Reports will be sent home.  The reports will be sent home on Monday, March 22^nd instead of Friday, March 19^th. 

Field days notices

Ø     School Spirit ¨Friday Fun¨ Activities Planned By The School Activities Team

In helping our school get into the ¨spirit¨ of Field Days, the School Activities Team is planning several Friday fun activities.  Friday the 5^th is ¨Pajama Day¨     Friday the 12^th will be Movie Character Day and the 19^th will be Class Theme Day.    Thank you parents for your cooperation in helping our students with their wardrobes.  Please keep in mind that whatever is worn must meet CCS general dress guidelines.

Ø     Two More Longer Runs Are Coming

The 3000 meter run has finished, but there are still the 1500 and 800m runs that will be run in the next few weeks.    Both of these races will begin promptly at 8:40 am at CCS   Students will need to wear Field Days shirts in the races.

Ø     High School Ball Throw Finals Set

The High School Ball Throw Finals (13/14 yrs and older) will be on Friday, 19 March.  Parents are welcome to come see their children throw.  A schedule will be sent home as soon as we know who is in the finals.

Ø     Field Days T-Shirts Can Be Picked Up

If you ordered a Field Days Team shirt, please remember to pick them up soon.   Families must pay for and pick up their shirts at the tienda of our school supplier on Calle Antezana.   Please do NOT send any money to Carachipampa.  

Ø     Volunteers Needed For Field Days

There is a need for volunteers to help run the events during Field Days.  If you are interested in helping in any way, please call Mr. Bryce or Mr. Scoggan at the school and let them know of your interest.  When we know the exact needs and vacancies that we will have on Thursday and Friday, 25 and 26 March, we will let you know how you can help.

Ø     Food Service At Field Days

The Class of 2012, (The Grade 11s), is in charge of the main meal and the other classes will have snacks to sell and other things  (face painting, crafts, etc.) to offer.  Please come prepared to help our students raise money for their classes.  The Grade 11 meal must be pre ordered.  The menu and costs will be sent home soon, so that you can place your orders.

 

OTHER SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENTS

Congratulations to our basketball teams this past Saturday in their games with Calvert. 

The following schedule reflects the games that are currently arranged for our basketball teams.

Each home game will start about 3:30 or 3:45, with the girls playing first.

Accepting new pre kinder enrolments

If families of the school have children who will be 4 years old before 1 August 2010, they may enroll them now in our Pre Kinder class for 2010/2011 school year.   We try to reserve space in PK for siblings of our current students, but space is limited.  Please enroll your PK child now for the next school year.

REGISTER FOR THE SAT AND AP EXAMS

Next Monday, 8 March is the very last day to register for an AP exam.  The registration deadline for the SAT is also soon. Students must see Mr. Scoggan on Monday to register for an AP and they must register on line at www.collegeboard.org for the SAT.

ADMINISTRATION NOTICE

We would like to ask all Parents to be prompt in the payment of school fees, comedor, library and transport bills.  The due date is the 10^th of every month.  If these bills are overdue, no report cards will be issued for your children until the bill is settled.  Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

 

COMMUNITY SERVICE NOTICE

We also remind students and parents that a Community Service form must be filled out and turned in before a report will be issued to the students.  This is for those who have not completed their requirements for the year

AFTER SCHOOL SUPERVISION NOTICE
It has been observed that a number of children/students are on the school grounds unsupervised after 3:00 pm    If your children are waiting for older siblings to finish a practice or are playing on the school property during the basketball games.  Our teachers can not monitor students play outside of school hours.  Our concern is for their safety.  Just keep in mind that if you allow your children to play at the school during these after school events, they are under your supervision and the school can not take responsibility for accidents or injuries.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

 

THE 2010 – 2011 SCHOOL YEAR WILL START ON AUGUST 9

Please take note that the start of school for the 2010 – 2011 school year has been determined.   All returning and new students should be present with us on Monday, 9 August at 8:15am.    Please mark this date and be sure that you are here and in uniform on this date.

 

ARE YOU LEAVING US IN JUNE? WE ARE PLANNING FOR 2010/2011

We also would appreciate knowing if you are planning a furlough or extended leave for the next school year and/or if you are planning to leave the school.  We are preparing our budget for the next school year and we need an idea of how many students will be in school.  Please contact Mr. Fuller immediately to let him know of your plans if you will not be here in August 2010.   Thank you for your help.

 

 

HANDBOOK MATTERS

Sickness – If a student becomes ill during school hours, he or she should ask the teacher for permission to go to the nurse.  The nurse will either take the student to the sickroom or call the parents to come and collect him/her.  Students are not to make a call home to be collected without the nurse's permission. 

Grade Guidelines

Students in every grade will receive a letter grade for each academic subject at the end of each marking period.  Grades will generally reflect the following criteria with the ´average´ grade for the school being a B-    (around 83%).

A  = 90% or above.        Superior work.  The student´s performance is among the top students in this subject area.

B  = 80% or above.        Average to above average work.  The student´s performance is in the middle range or higher.

C  = 70% or above.        Average to below average work.  The student´s performance is in the middle range or lower.

D  = 60% or above         Below average work.  The student´s performance is in the lower range in this subject area

F  = Below 60%              Failing.  The student lacks a basic knowledge in this subject.

P  = Above 60%              Student is passing in this subject area , but no letter grade is given.  (Elementary Grades only) 

 

Please note that the average grade across the school should be approximately a B –.   This means that not every student will get As in every subject.

AGRADECIMIENTO POR CARACHIPALOOZA

Estamos muy agradecidos  a la Sra.  Jamie Jones por organizar el Carachipalooza.   Agradecemos también a los profesores  y al Equipo de Actividades del colegio por el gran trabajo que hicieron en cada detalle realizado. Gracias a todos los que de alguna manera ayudaron y finalmente,  un especial agradecimiento a todos los estudiantes que participaron mostrando sus talentos. ¡Fue una maravillosa noche!

 

BIENVENIDAS Y DESPEDIDAS

Debemos decir adiós a la Srta. Beth Bergen quien ha estado ayudando con los cursos de Primaria este semestre.  Esta despedida es sólo por un tiempo pues ella está planeando regresar  al inicio del próximo año escolar. Damos también la bienvenida  a la  Srta. Heather Marion  quien estará  ayudando en la Biblioteca y en la Administración.  ¡Bienvenida!

 

FIN DEL TERCER  TRIMESTRE  12 DE MARZO; ENTREVISTA DE PADRES-PROFESORES  MIERCOLES 24

El tercer trimestre termina oficialmente el 12 de marzo y las entrevistas en la mitad del segundo semestre están programadas para el  miércoles por la tarde, el 24 de marzo.  Por favor  programe una entrevista con el maestro de su hijo/a  para hablar sobre su progreso académico.

ENTREGA DE LIBRETAS MARZO 22

Les recordamos que hubo un cambio en la fecha de envío de libretas.  Estas serán enviadas a sus casas el lunes, 22 de marzo  en lugar del viernes, 19 de marzo. 

Noticias Sobre Field days

Ø     School Spirit  ¨Viernes de diversión¨ planeado por el Equipo de Actividades de CCS.

Anticipando al colegio al "espíritu" de lo que serán los Field Days  el Equipo de Actividades del colegio está planeando una serie de actividades para el denominado "Viernes de diversión." El viernes 5 es el día de pijamas,  el viernes 12 será el de un personaje cinematográfico y el viernes 19,  el día del lema de la clase.  Agradecemos a los padres por su colaboración para conseguir los disfraces. Por favor tome nota que cualquiera sea la vestimenta debe contemplar  los reglamentos de vestimenta del CCS.

Ø     Dos carreras largas más.

Ya se realizó la carrera de 3000 metros; sin embargo, ya se aproximan las de 1500 y 800 metros las cuales se llevarán a cabo en las siguientes semanas.  Ambas carreras comenzarán a las 8:40 de la mañana. Los estudiantes deben usar sus poleras de Field Days para las carreras.

Ø     Finales de lanzamiento de pelota  para Secundaria 

Las finales para el lanzamiento de pelota de Secundaria (13/14 años y mayores) se llevarán a cabo el viernes, 19 de marzo. Los padres de familia son bienvenidos  para ver  a sus hijos/as en sus lanzamientos. En cuanto sepamos quiénes estarán en las finales, enviaremos un horario.

Ø     Ya están listas las poleras para Field Days.

Si ordenó una polera para Field Days, puede recogerla ahora. Las familias deben pagar por su polera en la tienda, proveedora del colegio  ubicada en la calle Antezana, al momento de recogerla.  Se le ruega NO enviar el dinero al colegio.

Ø     Necesitamos voluntarios para Field Days

Se necesitan voluntarios para colaborar durante Field Days. Si está interesado en ayudarnos por favor contáctese con   el Sr. Bryce o  el Sr. Scoggan. Les comunicaremos el área en la que puede brindar su ayuda para el jueves y viernes  25 y 26 de marzo.

Ø     Servicio de comida para  Field Days

El curso 11 está encargado de proveer almuerzo y los otros cursos estarán vendiendo diferentes refrigerios y otras cosas (artesanías, pintado de cara, etc.). Véngase dispuesto a colaborar con nuestros estudiantes en la recaudación de fondos para sus cursos. Los almuerzos distribuidos por el curso 11 deben ser  pedidos con anticipación. El menú y los costos serán enviados pronto.

Felicitaciones a nuestros equipos de basketball por sus partidos contra el Calvert el sábado pasado.

El siguiente cronograma muestra los partidos programados para nuestros equipos.

Inscripciones  Para Pre kinder

Si las familias del colegio tienen hijos que cumplirán cuatro años  antes del primero de agosto, pueden inscribirlos ahora  Pre Kinder para la gestión 2010/2011.  Tratamos de reservar plaza para los hermanos de los estudiantes en el CCS, sin embargo,  las plazas son limitadas.  Inscriba a sus hijos a PK ahora.

EXAMENES DE SAT Y AP

El próximo lunes, 8 de marzo es el último día para registrarse para tomar un examen de AP. La fecha límite de inscripción para el SAT  ya se aproxima. Los estudiantes interesados deben hablar con el Sr. Scoggan el lunes para registrase en un examen de AP y deben registrase por Internet en la siguiente página:  www.collegeboard.org para un examen de SAT.

 

ANUNCIO DE LA OFICINA DE ADMINISTRACION

Pedimos a los padres de familia cumplir prontamente con pagos de pensiones al colegio, al comedor,  a la biblioteca y al servicio de buses.  La fecha límite es el 10 de cada mes. Si estas cuentas no son canceladas, no se les entregará las libretas hasta que los pagos sean realizados. Gracias por su consideración  en este asunto.

  

SERVICIO COMUNITARIO

Recordamos a los estudiantes y padres que los formularios de Servicio Comunitario deben  ser completados y entregados  antes de la entrega de libretas. Este anuncio es para aquellos que no completaron los requerimientos para este año.

 

SUPERVISION DESPUES DE CLASES
Se ha observado que muchos niños/estudiantes están en los patios del colegio sin supervisión luego de las 3:00 p.m.  Si su hijo/a debe esperar a sus hermanos/as mayores quienes están realizando prácticas o un juego de basketball dentro de los campos deportivos del colegio, los maestros no pueden supervisar a estos estudiantes.  Nuestra preocupación es por su seguridad. Tome nota que si deja a su hijo/a jugando en el colegio durante estas actividades deportivas,  estarán bajo su supervisión y el colegio no se responsabiliza por accidentes o heridas. Gracias por su comprensión y cooperación al respecto.

 

AGOSTO 9 COMIENZA LA GESTION ESCOLAR 2010-2011

Por favor  tome en cuenta que ya tenemos la fecha de inicio de la siguiente gestión escolar. Todos los estudiantes antiguos y nuevos deben estar  presentes el lunes, 9 de agosto a las 8:15 a.m.  Le insinuamos marcar esta fecha de manera que pueda estar presente con su respectivo uniforme.

 

¿nos deja en junio? ESTAmos plaNIFICANDO LA GESTION 2010/2011

Estaremos agradecidos que nos informe si ustedes están planeando dejar el colegio por un  corto o largo tiempo en la siguiente gestión escolar, y/o si está planeando dejar el colegio. Estamos preparando nuestro presupuesto para la próxima gestión  y necesitamos tener una idea aproximada de cuantos estudiantes tendremos en el colegio.  Por favor contáctese con el Sr. Fuller inmediatamente para hacerle conocer si está planeando no estar  aquí  en agosto del 2010. MANUAL DEL ESTUDIANTE

 

Enfermedad – Si un estudiante se siente mal durante horas de clases, él o ella debe pedir permiso a su maestro para ir a la enfermería.  La enfermera atenderá al estudiante en la enfermería o llamará a sus padres para que recojan a su hijo/a.  Los estudiantes no pueden hacer llamadas a su casa sin autorización de la enfermera.   

Todos los profesores otorgarán una nota en términos de letras al final de cada trimestre. Las notas dadas básicamente reflejarán los criterios siguientes con la nota promedio para el colegio de una B menos (83%):

                A = 90% o más.                   Trabajo superior; entre los mejores alumnos.

                B = 80% o más.                   Promedio a sobre promedio.

                C  = 70% o más.                  Promedio a debajo del promedio.

                D = 60% o más.                   Debajo del promedio; entre los estudiantes más bajos.

                F = Bajo 60%.                     Reprobado; carece de lo básico.

                P = Arriba de 60%.             El estudiante pasó la materia, pero no recibe una nota literal (Sólo para Primaria)

 

Tome en cuenta que el promedio de la clase es aproximadamente B-. Esto quiere decir que no todos los estudiantes recibirán A en cada materia.
